Alloy Steel Pipe Price

Alloy steel pipe price ranges from Rs 150 to 300/kg (USD 2 to 5/kg) depending on grade, size, and schedule. P91 commands 30 to 50% above P22 pricing. Contact us for a quote.

Alloy Steel Pipe Grades

ASTM A335 alloy steel pipe grades include P5, P9, P11, P22, and P91.

Grade P5 (5Cr-0.5Mo)

P5 pipe contains 4.0 to 6.0% chromium and 0.45 to 0.65% Mo for refinery process piping up to 593 °C.

Grade P9 (9Cr-1Mo)

The P9 grade carries 8.0 to 10.0% chromium, the highest among standard grades, specified for superheater and reheater tubes.

Grade P11 (1.25Cr-0.5Mo)

Alloy steel P11 pipe is the most common entry-level Cr-Mo grade. It's specified for boiler piping up to 538 °C.

Grade P22 (2.25Cr-1Mo)

P22 is the most widely specified grade globally, with 1.90 to 2.60% Cr and 0.87 to 1.13% Mo for main steam piping.

Grade P91 (9Cr-1Mo-V Modified)

Grade P91 adds vanadium and niobium for creep resistance up to 620 °C, requiring PWHT to restore the coarse-grain heat-affected zone (CGHAZ).

Alloy Steel Pipe Forms

Alloy steel pipe comes in seamless and welded forms.

Seamless Alloy Steel Pipe (ASTM A335)

Seamless Alloy Steel Pipe (ASTM A335)

Welded Alloy Steel Pipe (ASTM A691 / ERW)

Welded Alloy Steel Pipe (ASTM A691 / ERW)

Alloy Steel Pipe Applications

Alloy steel pipe applications span three primary high-temperature industries.

Power Generation

Boiler piping, superheater tubes, and hot reheat piping in thermal power plants use grades P11, P22, and P91.

Oil & Gas and Petrochemical

Refinery process piping, catalytic crackers, and heat exchangers rely on ferritic alloy steel pipe.

Chemical Processing

Reactor piping and fluid lines use Cr-Mo alloy pipe where carbon steel can't withstand the conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Alloy Steel Pipe?+
Alloy steel pipe is a tubular product combining steel with chromium, molybdenum, and other alloying elements per ASTM A335 / ASME SA-335 for high-temperature service.
What are the grades of Alloy Steel Pipe?+
Common ASTM A335 grades include P5, P9, P11, P22, and P91, each serving a specific temperature range.
What is the difference between P11 and P22 Alloy Steel Pipe?+
P11 has 1.00 to 1.50% Cr and 0.44 to 0.65% Mo. P22 has 1.90 to 2.60% Cr and 0.87 to 1.13% Mo, rated to 593 degrees C versus 538 degrees C for P11.
Why are Seamless Alloy Steel Pipes preferred for high-pressure applications?+
Seamless pipe delivers approximately twenty percent more operating pressure than comparable welded options, despite the fact that there is no risk of corrosion in the weld zone.
What sizes are available for Alloy Steel Pipe?+
Sizes range from 1/8" NB to 30" NB in schedules SCH 20 through XXS, with cut-to-length options.
What is the price of Alloy Steel Pipe?+
Pricing ranges from Rs 150 to 300/kg (USD 2 to 5/kg) depending on grade, size, and schedule.
What ASTM Specification covers Alloy Steel Pipe?+
ASTM A335 / ASME SA-335 covers seamless ferritic alloy-steel pipe. ASTM A691 covers welded pipe.
What Welding Electrodes are Recommended for Alloy Steel Pipe?+
Electrode selection depends on grade: E8018-B2 for P11, E9018-B3 for P22, and E9015-B9 for P91. PWHT is required for all Cr-Mo grades.
