Stainless Steel Tube Available Grades

Stainless Steel Tubes are available in many grades to suit different temperature, pressure and corrosion requirements. Used across industrial, structural and process piping applications. The following are the SS tube grades provided by Sachiya Steel.

Stainless Steel 304 Tubes
Most common grade. Works for general industrial and commercial use where the main needs are easy fabrication and resists corrosion well.

Stainless Steel 304H Tubes
Higher carbon version of 304, designed for elevated temperature service. Minimum carbon content of 0.04% gives it better creep resistance at high temperatures.

Stainless Steel 316 Tubes
Similar to 304 but with molybdenum added. Holds up better in chloride and chemical exposure. Used where 304 tends to fall short.

Stainless Steel 316Ti Tubes
316 grade with titanium stabilisation. Handles thermal exposure better and reduces weld sensitisation risk. Used in high-temperature process environments.

Stainless Steel 321H Tubes
High carbon version of 321. Performs well under sustained high heat. Common in furnace components, thermal processing, and aerospace applications.

Stainless Steel 904L Tubes
High-alloy grade. Strong resistance to sulfuric acid and chloride-heavy environments. Used mainly in aggressive chemical processing conditions.

Types of Stainless Steel Tube

Stainless steel tubes come in several types, depending on how they are made and what shape they are. The right type is chosen based on the needed strength, surface finish, and application requirements.

Stainless Steel Tube Price

Stainless steel tube in India, prices are about ₹180 to ₹425 per kg. In the US, prices run from about $3 to $4 per kg. Prices depend on shape, size, grade, wall thickness, finish and order quantity. Grade 304 stainless steel tube is usually 15 to 20% lesser than grade 316. Seamless tubes cost more than welded tubes. Full 20 ft lengths offer the lowest price per foot. Industrial Applications of Stainless Steel Tube

Stainless steel tubes serve 4 primary application areas that demand corrosion resistance, structural integrity and hygienic surfaces.

Heat Exchangers & Fluid Transfer

Seamless stainless steel tube per ASTM A213 is the standard for shell-and-tube heat exchangers and condensers. Grade 316 is specified where chloride exposure presents a corrosion risk.

Architectural & Structural

Welded SS square tube and stainless steel rectangular tube are common in handrails, balustrades, and structural framing.

Food Processing & Marine

Grade 316L stainless steel tubing is preferred for dairy equipment, pharmaceutical lines, and marine structures. It's 2.00-3.00% molybdenum content resists pitting from salt water and cleaning agents.

Industrial & Fabrication

Grade 304 SS tube provides a practical balance of corrosion resistance, formability, and cost for exhaust systems, instrumentation, and furniture manufacturing. Grade 321 is specified for continuous service above 500°C.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes are Stainless Steel Tubes available in?+
Stainless steel tubes are available from OD 1/8" to 12" with wall thicknesses from .035" to .500". We stock round, square, and rectangular shapes in standard 20 ft lengths. Cut-to-size is available on request.
What is the difference between 304 and 316 Stainless Steel Tube?+
Grade 316 contains 2.00-3.00% molybdenum, which provides superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance. Grade 304 doesn't contain molybdenum but costs 15-20% less, making it the practical choice for general architectural and structural work.
What is the price of Stainless Steel Tube per foot?+
Prices range from $5 to $127+ per foot depending on shape, size, grade, wall thickness, and finish. Request a quote for current pricing.
What is the difference between welded and seamless Stainless Steel Tubes?+
Welded tubes are made by joining flat strips with ERW to ASTM A249/A554. Seamless tubes are pierced and drawn per ASTM A213 and are preferred for high-pressure, heat-exchanger use.
What ASTM standards cover Stainless Steel Tube?+
There are 5 primary ASTM standards that cover SS tubes. ASTM A213 / ASME SA-213 (seamless, heat exchanger), ASTM A249 (welded, pressure service), ASTM A269 (general service), and ASTM A554 (welded mechanical).
Can Stainless Steel Tubes be cut to custom lengths?+
Yes. Standard stock lengths are 20 feet (6 metres), and we offer custom cut-to-size across all shapes and grades.
Is Stainless Steel Tube suitable for outdoor use?+
Stainless steel tubes resist corrosion in outdoor, marine, acidic, and freshwater environments. Grade 316 is recommended for coastal or chemical-exposure applications because of its molybdenum content.
What finishes are available for Stainless Steel Tube?+
Available finishes include mill finish, 180-grit polish, and 320-grit polish. Mirror finish is also offered on request for projects that need a highly reflective, decorative, or architectural appearance.
