Titanium Grade 5 Sheet Price

Titanium Grade 5 sheet costs ₹1,000 to ₹4,000 per kg or $20 - $45 per kg. Pricing depends on thickness, dimensions, quantity, finish, and specification. Industrial and B2B pricing for mill-run sheets varies with market conditions; aerospace specification material (AMS 4911) typically costs more than commercial ASTM B265 sheet.

STA condition sheets cost more than annealed sheets due to the additional heat treatment processing. Thinner gauges (cold-rolled) also cost more per-kilogram rates than thicker hot-rolled sheets. Request a quote from our sales team for current rates on specific sizes and quantities.

Titanium Grade 5 Sheet Chemical Composition

Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) sheets contain 5.5-6.75% aluminium and 3.5-4.5% vanadium per ASTM B265 / ASME SB-265. It has strict limits on interstitial elements to maintain alloy integrity. The table below lists the full chemical composition.

Mechanical Properties of Titanium Grade 5 Sheets

Ti-6Al-4V sheets per ASTM B265 deliver a minimum tensile strength of 895 MPa (130 ksi), yield strength of 828 MPa (120 ksi), and 10% elongation. These values apply to annealed condition material. The following table summarises the key mechanical and physical data. Solution-treated and aged (STA) condition can push tensile strength even higher for demanding structural applications.

Ti-6Al-4V sheets are supplied in two primary forms.

  • Titanium Grade 5 Hot-Rolled Sheets
  • Titanium Grade 5 Cold-Rolled Sheets

Titanium Grade 5 Sheet Industrial Applications

The combination of high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility makes Ti-6Al-4V suitable for structural sheet applications.

Aerospace and Defense

Ti-6Al-4V sheets are used for airframe structures, bulkheads, engine shrouds, and heat shields. The alloy retains mechanical properties at temperatures up to 315 °C, which suits jet engine nacelle and exhaust components.

Medical and Biomedical

Grade 5 titanium is biocompatible and resistant to body fluids. Sheets in this alloy are formed into surgical implant components, orthopaedic plates, and dental frameworks.

Motorsport and Racing

Grade 5 sheets are a strong fit for weight-critical racing components. Exhaust heat shields, roll cage gussets, and structural brackets benefit from the alloy's fatigue resistance under vibration and cyclic loading.

Chemical Processing and Marine

Ti-6Al-4V sheet resists corrosion from seawater, chloride solutions, and many organic acids. Marine heat exchangers, offshore platform cladding, and reactor vessel linings are where this grade performs well in aggressive environments.

Titanium Grade 5 vs Grade 2 Sheets

Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) has nearly three times the tensile strength of Grade 2 (895 MPa vs 345 MPa) but has limited cold-formability. The table below compares the two grades.

Property Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) Grade 2 (CP Titanium)
Tensile Strength (min) 895 MPa / 130 ksi 345 MPa / 50 ksi
Yield Strength (min) 828 MPa / 120 ksi 275 MPa / 40 ksi
Elongation (min) 10% 20%
Cold Formability Limited cold formability Cold-formable
Density 4.43 g/cm3 4.51 g/cm3
Primary Applications Aerospace, structural, medical Chemical processing, marine
Standard ASTM B265 ASTM B265

Grade 5 is the right choice for structural and aerospace applications requiring high strength. Grade 2 suits corrosion-focused applications where cold forming is needed, and lower strength is acceptable.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What thicknesses are available for Titanium Grade 5 Sheets? +
Titanium Grade 5 sheets are available from 0.012" (0.3 mm) to 0.250" (6.35 mm). We stock 10 standard thickness options and can supply custom gauges on request with a confirmed lead time.
What is the price of Titanium Grade 5 Sheets per kg? +
Titanium Grade 5 sheet costs ₹1,000 to ₹4,000 per kg or $20 - $45 per kg. Pricing depends on thickness, dimensions, quantity, finish, and specification. Aerospace-grade sheets (AMS 4911) are priced higher than commercial ASTM B265 material. Contact our sales team for a current per-kilogram quotation.
Can Titanium Grade 5 Sheets be bent or formed? +
Grade 5 titanium has limited cold formability. Hot forming or careful warm bending (heating to orange glow) is required for any bend operation. Cold bending will crack the sheet due to the alloy's limited ductility at room temperature.
What is the difference between Titanium Grade 5 and Grade 2 Sheets? +
Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) has nearly three times the tensile strength of Grade 2 (895 MPa vs 345 MPa) but cannot be cold-formed. Grade 2 is commercially pure titanium, suited to corrosion applications that require forming and welding with lower strength requirements.
Can Titanium Grade 5 Sheets be welded? +
Titanium Grade 5 sheets are weldable using inert gas shielding methods such as TIG/GTAW. Spot welding, seam welding, flash welding, and pressure welding are also applicable. Full inert gas coverage on both sides of the weld is critical to prevent oxygen contamination.
What standard covers Titanium Grade 5 Sheets? +
ASTM B265 / ASME SB-265 is the primary standard for titanium sheet, strip, and plate. AMS 4911 applies to aerospace annealed sheet, while AMS 4920 covers solution-treated and aged (STA) condition.
Are Mill Test Certificates provided with Titanium Grade 5 Sheets? +
All shipments from Sachiya Steel International include mill test certificates (MTCs) with verified chemical composition and mechanical property data per ASTM B265. Soft copies of all manufacturing, quality, and material test certificates are provided as standard.
