Hot-rolled steel sheets are flat-rolled carbon steel products formed at temperatures above the recrystallisation point, above 1,700°F (926°C). The rolling process at high temperature produces sheets with a characteristic dark oxide scale on the surface and makes the steel easier to form, weld, and fabricate.

Stainless Steel hot-rolled sheets conform to ASTM A240 / A240M specifications. Depending on the grade, typical carbon content stays very low (generally well below 0.08% C), which, together with their alloy composition, provides excellent weldability using standard MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes without preheating for normal sheet thicknesses.
